MX2 Junior Dragsters spent a week with Jesse James of West Coast Choppers fame and the gang from Monster Garage. Six students from Georgia's Groves High School Career Center, directed by John Freeis, Bernard Clark and renowned motorcycle guru Jesse James, spent the week assembling a junior dragster for the annual episode devoted to high school students.
The five days of filming took place in October. Said Bob McClure of MX2 Jr. Dragsters "It was strictly a bolt-together operation with no welding involved. Once our chassis components are powdercoated, it normally takes about six to eight hours to assemble one of our cars. But the production crew also did in-dept personal interest interviews with each of the six students, which is why five days were needed to film the program."
Jeg's Mail Order supplied the motor and additional parts needed to make the car race ready. Final filming of the Challenge portion of the show took place January 17, 2006 at Irwindale Speedway.
Said McClure "Everything was built according to NHRA specifications, and we were very proud of the finished results. It is definitely a first-class racing vehicle."
